Fountain Hills Artists’ Gallery to host Carrie Godwin

Watercolor artist presents Tuesday, Feb. 13

The community is invited to the next Fountain Hills Artists’ Gallery weekly demonstration Tuesday, Feb. 13, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The featured artist for this event is Carrie Godwin, a watercolor artist.

“I paint with the passion of the mystery of watercolor,” Godwin said in a press release. “I love the magical blend of the pigments and water in my subjects which vary. I am very intrigued by color theory and that ties into my original background of fine art and commercial photography.”

Godwin’s work ranges from landscape, abstract, animals and collage/mixed media added to the watercolor paintings.

Ultimately, Godwin says she wants her work to make people feel a connection with her work through a fond memory, good energy or a calm sense.

“Using a lot of water and staying loose is my style for creating many soft layers,” Godwin added. “When I start a painting, I use light washes and then I patiently build up the layers.

“Paying attention to how the paper dries is very key to adding details, then revising some layers to work with the details, until I feel the work reflects my vision.”

The gallery is located at 16858 E. Avenue of the Fountains and is open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
