The community is invited to the next Fountain Hills Artists’ Gallery’s weekly demonstration on Tuesday, March 19, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The featured artist for this event is Watercolorist Cheryl Prather who says the Southwest has an abundance of color and light that she loves to capture in her paintings of desert landscapes, plants, buildings and animals.
”Watercolor is my medium of choice,” Prather said. “It is hypnotic, addictive, magical. It is the unique spontaneity of the medium that I find most intriguing.”

Prather says photography was her “first love” because she enjoys turning photos into paintings.
“I paint in my studio, referencing my photographs and occasionally venturing out to paint plein air,” she said. “I paint very colorfully with transparent paints and love to experiment with textures.”
The gallery is located at 16858 E. Avenue of the Fountains and is open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
