The Church of the Ascension in Fountain Hills celebrated its 50th anniversary both during and after its Palm Sunday Mass.
At 10 a.m. on March 30, the church took over the Amphitheater in Fountain Park and turned it into an outdoor sanctuary, according to a press release.
Presiding over the Mass was Bishop Eduardo Nevares, Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Phoenix. Nevares joined by Father Jilson Panakkal, Pastor of the Church of the Ascension, who served as concelebrant. Deacons Richard Smith and Rich Kliemann also assisted throughout the service.
