An update on the letter written by Maury Corp seeking assistance for Ghazi Tawakalna.

Ghazi has been self-employed providing handyman/repair services in Fountain Hills for the past 18 years. He was a very talented man who could fix anything inside or outside a home.

Because of the kind of man that he was, after he did work for someone once or twice, he thought of them as friends. He would respond to calls after hours and on holidays and never charged people any extra or overtime, if he charged them at all.

He supported the local businesses by purchasing the majority of his materials and supplies from them.

Ghazi was the sole breadwinner of the family ever since I became disabled in 2001 due to a stroke/seizures and was struck again in 2007.

With my disability and his being self-employed, we were able to just scrape by. Since mid-October, things are very different. Ghazi became seriously ill and hospitalized for the past eight weeks. He will be placed in a long-term care facility; all of which has left our family very much in jeopardy.

We are going through the darkest of times in what should be the merriest of seasons. We have lived in Fountain Hills since 1996, and in our home and neighborhood since 2002 and hate to even think about leaving.

I know I will have to make some hard decisions in the future, but am hoping that I won’t have to at least for a month or two.

We want to thank Maury Corp for his letter and the few folks who have helped us. Anyone else who wishes to help our family can use my e-mail address janet3314@cox.net at either Bank of America (www.bankofamerica.com/onlinebanking) or at Chase where a Quick Pay account was set up for our family (www.chase.com/quickpay).
