As the temperatures begin to rise, Fountain Hills will say goodbye to a third of its residents who migrate to cooler climates during the warm summer months.
As kitchen cupboards remain untouched and fridges emptied for the summer season, the Extended Hands Food Bank requests local snowbirds to keep them in mind during the summer months, also known as the food bank’s “dry season.”
“We’re like bears; except we stock up during the winter season to be able to last through the summer,” said Allyson Iverson, assistant director of the food bank. “While local clubs and churches slow down for the summer, our clients are here year-round.”
