The Town of Fountain Hills completed a traffic calming project along Avenue of the Fountains last week.
The project included painting a yellow line along the street approximately a car’s width from the center median plaza curb. The space has been marked to prohibit traffic.
The project also installed reflective delineators for nighttime visibility.
Speed and motorists treating the Avenue as a two-lane street has been a common complaint regarding traffic on the Avenue. The action is expected to help reduce speed and reinforce the idea that it is not a two-lane street.
Public Works Director Justin Weldy said the town designed and implemented the project with in-house staff at a cost of about $1,700.
The project is in keeping with town goals to improve traffic and pedestrian safety in the town.
