Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation President Bernadine Burnette has been selected by Az Business Magazine as one of the 50 most influential women in Arizona Business for 2019.

She will be featured on the cover of the July/August issue with 49 of her fellow honorees.

The editorial team and a panel of industry experts chose the honorees from more than 2,000 women.

A profile of an award recipient appears daily at azbigmedia.com leading up to the Aug. 22 dinner and reception at the Arizona Biltmore.

“One of the things that makes the Most Influential Women in Arizona program special is that we don’t allow a woman to make the list more than once,” said AZ Big Media editor-in-chief Michael Gossie. “It’s a testament to the number of brilliant, talented women leaders in Arizona that the program continues to be the most elite and competitive in the state.”

Craig Benell, director of hotel operations for the We-Ko-Pa Resort & Conference Center, said “President Burnette has always been a driving, inspirational force within the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation.

“She has played a pivotal role in the tribe’s growth over the past 20 years – and continues to do so in the construction of our brand new We-Ko-Pa Casino Resort, slated to open next summer.

“We’re thrilled that her leadership skills, commitment to her people, and pride in Arizona have been recognized in such an illustrious forum.”
