Babysitting

The school override principally funds free day kindergarten!

Federal studies show that children who attend pre-school activities have no advantages over students who do not attend pre-school activities after second or third grades, and it is a waste of money to fund these activities.

Bottom line: we are being asked to fund a babysitting service. In my days, parents paid for these services. They should pay for them now!

The bond is full of “buzzword” projects of questionable value. I wonder how many of these projects were funded in the last bond?

What really gets me is that this is a 20-year $8 million bond that is estimated to cost $4,107,000 in interest -- that is over half the principle (51 percent) that is being requested by the school.

The town bond is for $8.2 million over five years with an interest of $1.5 million -- that is only 18 percent of principle, a far more economical request! Seems like the school needs to learn how to save money.

For the above reasons, I am voting no on both the school override and bond and suggest that you also vote no.
