Balloon Glow planned

The holiday season is right around the corner and the Fountain Hills Chamber of Commerce is again hosting the Stroll in the Glow event Saturday, Dec. 2, with the traditional lighting of the Avenue and a Santa sighting later on that evening.

As a special treat that same night, the Chamber plans to bring back the Balloon Glow, when six hot air balloons will light up the night to provide a spectacular backdrop to the festivities along the Avenue.

The balloons, which are commissioned by Aerogelic Ballooning in Phoenix, will be tethered to the ground and located just south of the Avenue in Fountain Park. The Balloon Glow is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. and last until 8 p.m.

“The beauty of it alone is outstanding,” Phyliss Kern of Kern Entertainment LLC said. Kern Entertainment is spearheading a donation campaign to fund the balloons and related administrative and public safety costs.

Three years ago, roughly 35,000 people came to Fountain Park to see the Balloon Glow, Kern said. She is eager to help bring the popular event back to town.

“It’s a real popular item, especially for children and grandparents,” Kern said. “I mean, here are these big monstrous balloons blowing up and flames going off. It’s just exciting.”

As always, the Balloon Glow is an event that is dependent on the weather. Tammy Bell, the Chamber’s vice president of operations, said that now that the contract has been signed to bring the balloons to Fountain Park, donors are sought to ensure the night is a success.

Donors are welcome to contact Phyliss Kern by email at Phillykern@aol.com or by phone at 602-309-5034. Donors may also reach out directly to Tammy Bell by email at tammy@fhchamber.com or by calling 480-837-1654 x230.
