This ridiculous environmental fee forced on the citizens of Fountain Hills that have detached garages is unfair.

Whereas the million dollar homes with three car garages are charged a fee of $36, us small condo owners are assessed $72. We are being hoodwinked by the Town Finance Department.

This yearly fee must be paid by Jan. 31to some collection agency in Florida. I am a 93-year-old disabled WW2 veteran and only have one eye and live on a fixed income and cannot afford to come up with $72 by the end of January.

There must be hundreds of condo owners here in Fountain Hills with detached garages that are being forced to pay double.

I will reluctantly pay the environmental tax on my condo with 12 $3 payments. That is all I can afford. As for the detached garage fee, this should be rescinded. I will sell my condo before I am forced to pay this fee on a garage that I pay the county $3.72 yearly tax.

If we citizens go along with this new tax, the next thing the Town will be taxing is our outside patios and dog houses.

Also noted, try to call the people responsible for passing this fee for some kind of answers. No one ever seems to be at their desks.
