Barbara R. Clevenger

Barbara R. Clevenger (Block), 94, of Minneapolis, formerly of Fountain Hills, and Minnetrista, Minn., passed away Sept.16, 2023.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walton, and is survived by her children, Dr. Charles Clevenger (Wanda), Jana Clevenger, Cara Howe (Randy); and beloved grandchildren, Ali Howe, Peter Clevenger, and Jane Howe.

Barb was born in Ogilvie, Minn., and attended St. Cloud Teachers College after high school. After college, she taught fourth grade and also worked as a model for Estelle Compton. She met Wally on a blind date in 1956, and they married later that year. They built a house on Halstead’s Bay on Lake Minnetonka and spent many happy years there until retiring to Arizona. She was a longtime member of the Excelsior United Methodist Church and Trinity Lutheran Church.

Barb was not only a Sunday school teacher but also a PTA member, a member of the Minneapolis Women’s Club, and a baker extraordinaire (oh, the caramel rolls and two pies every Saturday).

“You’re with Dad now, Mom, and we miss you.”
