Play remained close through the final innings with the Falcons narrowly avoiding another Empire run in the top of the seventh with two outs and the bases loaded. The Falcons ended up in a similar situation of their own in the bottom of the inning, facing two outs with two men on base. A mad dash to home plate by Paul Bryniarski on an Ethan Fett infield hit, however, would end the game in the Falcons' favor, 5-4.
It marks the fourth state baseball championship for Fountain Hills.
