Baumgartner: It’s time to cheer on the FHHS Falcons

Posted

It’s almost football season!

I’ve been remembering going to my own high school games every Friday night, sitting on the frozen metal bleachers in Kansas wearing my pep club blazer, yelling and cheering for my friends. Then a few decades later I was shivering in the cold Seattle rain, watching my quarterback grandson and his friends playing their hearts out for their high school’s honor.

After reading the article about our Fountain Hills High School football team, I’ve become excited about the idea of sitting in the stands again, this time in the comfortable evening warmth, cheering and hollering for our Falcons!  We are blessed to have a returning coach and a full team of young people eager to play the game. They’ve been working and training and I can’t wait to go support them. I don’t know any players now, but after a few games, I’ll know their names, which will add to the fun even more.

Sports in high school teach the students so much more than just the rules of the game. We all say we love living here in our small town, so let’s show support for our kids in football and the other sports also. It’s a good opportunity to meet our young athletes, their parents and their teachers.

Have a great year, Fountain Hills Falcons!
