Two more matches for the Fountain Hills High School sand volleyball team meant two more wins for the team that has now gone 28 matches in row without a loss.

Fountain Hills sand volleyball played its first match last week against Horizon Honors with the Lady Falcons winning all five sets.

The next match for Fountain Hills was on March 29 against Veritas Prep. The Falcons again won in five straight sets.

This week, sand volleyball has two matches. The first one is today, April 3, away against Scottsdale Preparatory Academy starting at 3:45 p.m.

The next match is Thursday, April 4, at home against Scottsdale Christian Academy beginning at 4 p.m.

Head coach Pete McGloin said he is extremely happy with the way his team is playing at the moment.

“My goal is to have everyone lifting each other; we want that positive energy and intensity in practice,” McGloin said. “We want focused players who are working hard to get themselves and their teammates better. Players that come in with the right attitude, ready to work and, most importantly, ready to have fun. That is what we have right now.”

While the Lady Falcons’ competition last week wasn’t the strongest that Division 3 has to offer, McGloin still saw some outstanding pairs at work.

“Our ones team in the Horizon Honors match, Jelina Lynch and Grace Abrams, played their second match in the ones spot and looked really strong,” McGloin said. “In the Veritas game I have to give a shout-out to Anya Feyrer-Melk and Ashley Beck for their positive intensity that they have at all times.”

While McGloin still saw some areas in the two matches that could improve, he said he is feeling good about the team heading into this week’s region battle.
