As a Fountain Hills resident of more than 27 years, I’ve experienced the progress, setbacks and perceptions of our town.
We have an amazing community with reasonable taxes. I’m not an analyst, nor will I purport to being fully versed on whether or not everything has been done to avoid a primary property tax. What I do know is that concerned residents far more informed than I, have analyzed this from every angle and concluded we need it.
No one wants higher taxes, but a primary property tax seems fair to all and will keep our town appropriately maintained so that it continues to impress our visitors. Impressed visitors equals tourism, business and increased property values.

Artists are some of the last ones willing, or sometimes able, to dig deep for another expense. So for what it’s worth, I’m voting yes. If you don’t like how it ends up being used, you have the right to vote.
Another aspect I’d like to comment on is the incorrect assumption that our town spends tax dollars on art. Our collection has been generously donated by those who know the importance of public art. Art beautifies, intrigues, inspires and sets us apart from other communities. Aside from art’s cultural importance, it’s a proven fact that any unique/unusual impression taken away by a visitor is a key element in the growth and success of a community.
We are a unique and beautiful community; I’d hate to see us struggle to keep it that way.
