Friday night, April 1, the Fountain Hills Theater presented Play It Again, Sam. Written by Woody Allen, directed by Bob Feugate and produced by Alisa Feugate, what’s not to like? Well, there is plenty to like in this outing.
Newcomer to our theater, Wade Moran, plays Allan Felix, a neurotic film critic who tries to get over his wife leaving him by dating again. He has the help of his best friend and his wife, and his alter ego, Humphrey Bogart. Bogart, in iconic trench coat, drops in now and then to give advice. He appears when Allan gets in trouble, which is a lot.
Allan’s apartment is full of movie trivia, mostly of Bogart’s films. There are some great lines from Casablanca that anyone over a certain age will remember. Awesome.

Play It Again, Sam is often misquoted. Bogart never said the lines, it was Ingrid Bergman. But who cares, this is a great comedy and everyone should go see it. Listen carefully; there are other quotes from Bogart movies.
It plays until April 17. Come back, Wade Moran, you are great.
Thank you to all who attended and gave items for auction for the Broadway in the Hills fundraiser on March 6. It was a great success and we are so grateful to all who helped make it so. As we say so many times, we have the best little theater in the Valley and we need to support it and tell our friends.
