Best foot forward

Many have claimed that they’d like to see Fountain Hills “on the map,” and that happened in a big way over the weekend when Republican forerunner Donald Trump dropped by our little burg in order to hold a rally.

What we find most important about this event is that, for Trump or against him, the people of Fountain Hills put their best foot forward.

From town staff to law enforcement, protesters to supporters, everyone came together to take part in this momentous occasion while remaining civil to one another. Sure, there was a bit of a kerfuffle involving one protest group and their desire to cut off traffic into the area but, here in town, the vast majority of folks remembered to keep it classy.

Sure, there was a bit of a kerfuffle involving one protest group and their desire to cut off traffic into the area but, here in town, the vast majority of folks remembered to keep it classy.

This entire event came together on very short notice, and the Town did its part to handle the Trump rally as if it were any other event. Team Trump was held to the same guidelines and requirements as any other group wishing to utilize a local park, and the visiting campaign covered all outside expenses.

The day of the rally was hot and long, but the mood of the crowd remained calm. Some folks may have disagreed with one another but, again, matters never got out of hand.

When the cameras were rolling, folks the world over saw our trademark Fountain running endlessly in the background as Trump addressed the crowd.

Like so many events before this one, it would not have been possible without the support of the community. The residents, clubs and organizations of Fountain Hills have worked tirelessly in the past to hold community events and give visitors and residents alike a reason to get out have a good time. All of that effort is paying off.
