Now that Betsy DeVos has been installed as the Secretary of Education in the new administration, she has stated that she intends to bring to the national educational system the policies she advocated in Michigan. She campaigned for taking taxpayer money from public education and using it to fund for-profit charter schools.
Many of these for-profit schools are owned by her billionaire friends. Indeed, she has not divested her multi-million dollar holding in at least one concern that is a for-profit education company.
Maybe she intends to turn the nation’s public schools over to the people who gave us Trump University!

The taxpayers of Fountain Hills, and especially the elected School Board, need to be wary of the rollout of this pernicious policy. If implemented, I personally will seek counsel about how to withhold part of my taxes that will be paying the profits of these scam schools. In Michigan, the charter schools have overall underperformed traditional public schools.
