Business owners and residents beware. As a former town business owner, I know how hard it is to make it in Fountain Hills. The last thing we need is a mayor who will turn on you if she disagrees with our words or actions, or one that will bring bad publicity on our town.

A few years ago, then Councilwoman Ginny Dickey disagreed with something that was said on the Rush Limbaugh show. Not everyone agrees with what’s said on the radio, but how many of us actively try to destroy someone because he chooses to express his opinion and also drags the town into the mess?

That’s exactly what Ginny Dickey did. She sent an email to advertisers on KFYI radio asking them to pull their support of Limbaugh’s show.. Since she identified herself as a councilwoman from Fountain Hills, it was so embarrassing for our town as Barry Young, the morning host, ridiculed her and our town for several days on his show.

Another black eye for our town was when then Vice Mayor Ginny Dickey was interviewed by channel 12, where I feel she bashed our police department for performing enforcement against illegal immigrants.

While Ginny Dickey is free to have her own opinion, when she identifies herself as the vice mayor of Fountain Hills, she negatively draws attention to our town, its residents and our business community.

I expect our elected officials to be good ambassadors for our town, not work against us.

I’m voting for Cecil Yates for mayor. Cecil has always used his position as a councilman to support our business community and promote our town in a positive way.
