Bewildering

Mr. Gomez, writing as a self-described “representative of many residents” with concerns about the politics within our education system, is bewildering.

I’m not sure in what capacity this representation manifests itself, but let’s not quibble over his self-appointed role for now. I would simply invite him to gather accurate information – possibly contact the district or attend board meetings – before flinging his judgmental and pejorative remarks.

For Robert Gomez to suggest credibility in his opinion because of “prior experience and knowledge,” he should also understand that we do things differently in Arizona compared to New Mexico. There is no collective bargaining statute. Speaking of New Mexico, with his disingenuous concern for our teachers (who endorsed me), Mr. Gomez might also address his experiences with MCFUSE.

I’m not sure who is spoon-feeding Mr. Gomez information but, for the record, three former Governing Board members will be on one of the panels and each has a deep understanding of the district’s needs and appreciates the obvious requirement of strong leadership skills in our superintendent.

But let me focus on just one member of this panel. Although this “ousted” board member has more hands-on experience with interviewing than most, the fact is, all questions will be scripted; agreed upon prior to the interview and each candidate will be asked the same questions with very limited, direct follow up questioning.

This “ousted” board member knows more about our district than most; especially budgeting and public education funding. This “ousted” board member knows too well about political games played in Fountain Hills for which my unsuccessful election is all the attestation one needs to understand that I don’t play by those same rules.

The politics of the past appear to be of and by those Mr. Gomez “represents.”
