One of Sheriff Joe’s finest is really one big bully…
On Valentine’s Day in Fountain Hills, my sister (a snowbird from Iowa) was out delivering homemade cookies to friends.
When she came upon a temporary construction site on Palisades with signs everywhere, she slowed down to about 5 miles an hour trying to figure out where to turn into the neighborhood.
Obviously confused, she did not see the no left hand turn sign and made an illegal turn. Seeing flashing lights, my sister, who had her three-year- old grandson in the back seat, immediately stopped.
The officer proceeded to approach her car and from the second he opened his mouth, he reprimanded her in a tone that was condescending and demeaning. He did everything he could to intimidate her and made her sit for over a half hour before he finally finished the paperwork to give her a ticket.
She was so emotionally traumatized by his rudeness and bullying that she began to cry. Seeing her response, he didn’t let up a bit and the bullying continued. All of this in front of her grandson, who was so confused as to why this very mean man would make his grandma cry.
Several times that day, we had to reassure her grandson that she was OK and most police people were good; she just happened to encounter a very insensitive person.
Shame on that officer.
Your job is to protect and serve, not to intimidate and bully. Maybe your coffers are $185 fatter, but what you did is inexcusable.
