Blue fountain

In Ann Schweers’ letter on Nov. 9, she says, “I want to thank Gary Lvov, Lina Bellenir, Phyllis Kern and all the others who have worked so hard to develop the event coming up later this month when the fountain will be turned blue. It’s a wonderful gesture of unity to display the Democrats’ color and a visible symbol of our efforts to turn Arizona blue! Thanks to everyone!”

It is my understanding that the fountain will turn blue to honor our law enforcement personnel, firefighters, paramedics and others who bravely serve our community and country. Blue may be the color of the Democrats’ party, however, it coincides with the phrase “boys in blue.”

Also, it is very presumptuous of her to say it is a symbol of efforts to turn Arizona blue. We are red and, hopefully, will stay red as a Republican state with principles of conservatism and limited government.

I speak for no one but myself, and do hope people realize she does not speak for all of us.
