Many people in town have asked why we don’t simply use bonds to pay for our budget needs. It may seem the easy solution, but dig a little deeper and it turns out not to be a “one size fits all” solution. Why not?
Yes, bonds can be used for new construction, but bonds cannot be used for ongoing maintenance and repairs of our roads. Bonds cannot pay for fire and police protection. And by law, bonds cannot pay to repair or maintain our parks or our buildings.
Furthermore, bonds must be approved by a majority of voters. It takes a year or more to get a bond on the ballot. And the kicker? We all must pay the interest on those bonds, which means my county tax bill will go up!

So either way, it is time for me to pony up and do my share. I will vote yes on May 15. To me, the primary property tax is the only effective and fair way for me to support my town. For more information, go to savefh.com.
