The little bit of rain we’ve had the past couple of weeks has really helped the plants in the Fountain Hills Botanical Garden green up. Now is a great time to take yourself and friends out for a nice hike.
Since our garden is a natural garden, meaning there is no irrigation, we depend on Mother Nature to furnish the moisture to sustain the plants. Not only does the rain help the plants, it also brings out the beautiful colors of the lichen on the rocks and massive boulders you see. There are shades of green, blue and everything in between.
Earlier in the year I found several of the painted rocks that people placed for all to enjoy. It was a special treat to see those; which is their purpose – to bring happiness to those that find them.

It’s also a treat to find blooming plants. Some of the current bloomers are chuparosa, fairy duster and brittlebush. There will be more flowers after the rain, so it’s an ever-evolving show.
Remember to take guests that are visiting for a peaceful walk in the Sonoran Desert and enjoy!
