The Desert Botanical Garden in our town was lucky to be chosen as one of the three entities in Fountain Hills to qualify for the privilege of running for $10,000 Community Grant from Republic Services.
We would like to beautify the parking lot at the entrance to the garden. Presently it is just a cut into the hillside, which is steep and tends to erode into the parking lot after heavy rains. Our plan is to terrace the hillside with rocks found on the property and put a new beautiful sign on the terrace. The present sign is parallel to Fountain Hills Blvd. and easy to miss. There will be plants on the terrace that are found in the garden. It will create a pleasant welcome to our wonderful oasis in the desert.
We have been attracting more visitors every year to walk in our garden and would definitely love to be able to have a nice entrance. There are only two towns in the entire country that this grant is offered. We are lucky to be one of them.
