Bowin named to RV Fire Board

Marty Bowin has been appointed to serve on the Rio Verde Fire District Board of Directors. He will serve the remainder of Commissioner Clarence Hein’s term through November.

Bowin and his wife Penny have been full-time residents of Tonto Verde since 2008. Bowin has served as Tonto Verde’s Firewise chairperson since 2011 and is vice-president of the new non-profit Verdes Wildfire Protection, Inc. established in conjunction with Rio Verde Firewise.

Bowin received his BS and MS degrees in mechanical engineering from the University of Missouri – Rolla and worked for Chevron Corporation for 37 years in various engineering, operations and senior management positions, retiring in 2008 as VP of Chevron Pipe Line Company.

Bowin named to RV Fire Board

Marty Bowin has been appointed to serve on the Rio Verde Fire District Board of Directors. He will serve the remainder of Commissioner Clarence Hein’s term through November.

Bowin and his wife Penny have been full-time residents of Tonto Verde since 2008. Bowin has served as Tonto Verde’s Firewise chairperson since 2011 and is vice-president of the new non-profit Verdes Wildfire Protection, Inc. established in conjunction with Rio Verde Firewise.

Bowin received his BS and MS degrees in mechanical engineering from the University of Missouri – Rolla and worked for Chevron Corporation for 37 years in various engineering, operations and senior management positions, retiring in 2008 as VP of Chevron Pipe Line Company.

He has additional experience in emergency management, industrial firefighting, oil spill response, and pipeline safety. Since retirement he has consulted part-time by performing major incident prevention audits on oil industry operations around the world.

He enjoys mountain biking, hiking, running, playing golf and photography of travel experiences, the desert surroundings and his grandchildren.

Hein is a resident of Tonto Verde and has served on the Rio Verde Fire District Board of Directors since October 2009.

Hein graduated from the University of Denver with a degree in accounting and practiced as a CPA for 42 years. He initially worked in a Big 8 accounting firm and then founded Hein and Associates serving as its managing partner until his retirement.

Hein brought a wealth of finance and accounting experience to the Rio Verde Fire District. His expertise and guidance allowed the district to implement sound accounting practices and establish financial controls to safeguard public funds.

Hein will continue to serve as the financial advisor with the Tonto Verde Country Club.
