Bright signs

This 17-year home-owner snowbird just discovered by the sidewalk alongside Saguaro Blvd. what he thought would surely never have to see in beautiful and unique Fountain Hills -- huge flashing in-your-face LED advertising sign with certainly many more now to come unless something is done to stop it.

Hurray and thanks to Town Council members Hansen and Yates who had the courage to vote against the advertising sign ordinance last Nov. 1, 2012. But four others voted “yes” so now we are on the certain path for Fountain Hills to begin looking like most every other town with huge, bright moving lights exhorting us to buy something. We may need revenue but don’t let business too often dictate how we get it!

Can this be stopped? Is money going to be the force driving our choices? What can we do to help Fountain Hills retain its special and unique quality of living that has brought so many of us here?

Please learn and remember the names of those you want to represent you, represent us, at the next Fountain Hills election before it is too late to turn back. Remember also “what we once were,” would like to retain and want to be in the future. It’s (Y)OUR town!
