On any given afternoon, Desert Vista Skate Park hums with motion. Wheels roll, boards clap against concrete and kids take turns cheering one another on. For many families in Fountain Hills, the park has become a gathering place, a proving ground and a reminder that even in a small town, big possibilities can take shape.
That sense of community will be on full display Saturday, Jan. 31, when skaters of all ages return to Desert Vista Skate Park for the Fountain Hills Skateboard Classic.
The Skateboard Classic, presented by Musco Lighting, runs from 2 to 5:30 p.m. and is free for spectators. Skaters who wish to compete must pre-register for a $20 entry fee. Divisions include ages 8 and under, 9–13, 14–17 and 18 and up, along with sponsored male and female divisions. Each competitor will have one 90-second run to showcase their skills.
