The 2016-17 school year comes to an end next Thursday, May 25, but that doesn’t mean life has to come to a grinding halt for local youths.
In fact, there are a rather large number of events and activities that take place during the summer months geared toward keeping kids active in both body and mind.
For starters, the Fountain Hills Unified School District kicks off its summer school program as soon as the regular school year draws to a close. Whether your student needs to tackle an extra course during the summer or is looking to get in some time with sports, crafts and the like, there’s a wide variety of options available. You can read all about it in the school briefs this week, or visit fhusd.org to find out more. There’s a blue box titled “Important Information” at the top of the page with a link to the summer school offerings.

Similarly, the Boys & Girls Club McKee Branch will be offering its own suite of summer activities in the coming months, with classes available that focus on academics, athletics, the arts and more. The best way to learn more is to drop by 14605 N. Del Cambre Ave. where a team member will be happy to share all of the details for the Boys & Girls Club’s summer programing.
The Town of Fountain Hills is upping its summer game, too, with all sorts of events planned for the summer months including one-off activities, fun trips for the kiddos and even a new Youth Summer Camp program that will keep everyone busy with field trips aplenty. To learn more about what the town has going on this summer, simply visit fh.az.gov/recreation.
Finally, no summer would be complete without vacation Bible school. Various churches around town are offering their own programming; with some groups teaming up to share resources and staff in order to better serve the youth of Fountain Hills. Be sure to check in on the various local churches to see what types of events they’ll be hosting through the next couple of months.
With all of that going on, and more, there’s no reason any youngster in Fountain Hills should be able to say “I’m bored” this summer.
