The Cactus Fire is burning in brush and mesquite along the Salt River just below the confluence of the Verde River near the Granite Reef Diversion Dam.
The human caused fire started Tuesday afternoon and is under investigation. It was spread by strong winds Tuesday afternoon and while it calmed overnight by Wednesday afternoon it was showing signs of growing stronger again.
Late Wednesday fire officials reported the fire had grown to about 200 acres. Additional fire crews were brought in Wednesday morning to battle the blaze with about 100 personnel on the fire line by Wednesday afternoon.

The Bush Highway is closed south of Usury Pass Road to Power Road in Mesa.
The public is being asked to stay out of the area.
