A young lady by the name of Hannah Bloomer continues to shine in the community.

Back in October of 2013 this publication featured a story on Hannah, a young teen who loves life, baseball and many other things.

Having been diagnosed with thyroid cancer, however, didn’t change her upbeat attitude. She went through two surgeries and radiation treatments.

Sandie Guiney, who has been driving a school bus for the Fountain Hills Unified School District for the past five years, has gotten to know Hannah over the years.

“Several months ago Hannah jumped on my bus for a ride home and we had a few moments to chat,” Sandie recalls.

“Hannah told me that she had recently noticed a new lump in her neck and had an appointment with her doctor.

“And then in the same breath she said, ‘…and there is this really, really, really cut boy and he is really, really cute. And Miss Sandie, did you notice I am wearing makeup?”

Turns out the lump was not an issue and Hannah remains in remission.

“Hannah is being raised by dad,” Sandie says. “Brother Ben rounds out this family. Top that off with playing baseball with the best of the guys for the Fountain Hills team, I thought Hannah might enjoy a little ‘girlfriend’ time.”

So Miss Sandie the bus driver went ahead and contacted several of her local friends and business owners to arrange a special “spa day” for Hannah.

Sandie received many positive responses and a personal invitation was sent to Hannah for “Hannah’s Day” to be celebrated June 4.

Sandie arrived at Hannah’s home that day with a dozen red roses.

Bob Albright, owner of Fountain Hills Luxury Transfers, picked them up and whisked them off to Park Avenue Hair Co., where owner Kim Miller provided Hannah with a haircut, professional conditioning treatment, fashion styling and brow sculpture.

Kenny Nguyen of Park Avenue treated Hannah to a fashionable and relaxing pedicure and manicure.

Then it was back in the Luxury Transfers and off to Sofrita on Avenue of the Fountains, where Carolyn Redendo treated the duo to a lovely lunch.

Next up was Julie Jones.

Julie is owner of Love to Look Great and is a makeup artist specializing in Motives Custom Cosmetics and working out of the Simply Marvellous salon.

Hannah was offered a lesson in skin care and make-up application and, after receiving her makeover, was given a gift basket full of skin care and makeup products.

A wonderful day of beauty and pampering for Hannah was topped off with a generous Target gift card made possible by Joe Ciotta of Joe Ciotta Plumbing, Mike Jones of Discount Air Care, Jeannie Harris of Harris Insurance Agency, former Mayor Jay Schlum of Sonoran Lifestyle Real Estate and Jean Raymond.

“Hannah had a wonderful day all for herself,” Sandie said.

“That was the main goal.

“And I especially wanted to thank these generous business owners and residents for this wonderful day of beauty and pampering for beautiful Hannah.

“They stepped up in a tremendous way for a special young lady.”
