With the start of the 2024 election year there are several candidates moving to the gate for the upcoming Town Council race in Fountain Hills.
Town Clerk Linda Mendenhall reports that as of Jan. 1, she has talked with three candidates about the race for mayor, and there are six candidates who have an interest in one of the three council terms set to expire at the end of this year. So far none of the incumbents have indicated they will run for another term. The terms of Mayor Ginny Dickey and council members Sharron Grzybowski, Peggy McMahon and Gerry Friedel will be expiring.
Friedel is one of the candidates who have talked to Mendenhall about filing paperwork or a campaign committee for the mayor’s seat. Others include former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio and Robyn Marion.
