Capital override becomes 'yes' vote, candidates hold steady

There was a bit of moving and shaking in the election results last night, with the capital override shifting from a vote of 'no' to a vote of 'yes.'

Nothing is set in stone, however, as these numbers still are not finalized and the difference is a narrow margin of just six votes. Preliminary results had the School District's capital override question originally showing 3651 votes against with 3520 votes in favor; a difference of 131 votes. With the counting process still under way, the yes votes have moved up to 3971 with the no votes at 3965.

As for the local School Board, additional counted votes have not really affected the standing of the five candidates. With three seats available, Judy Rutkowski, Wendy Barnard and Edith Stock continue to lead with 3400, 3257 and 3191 votes respectively, with Robert Gomez and incumbent Karl Gaardsmoe neck-and-neck at 2697 and 2675, respectively.
