The car, which appears in productions of the play all over the United States, was stolen June 8.
Val Stasik, former executive director of the theater, drove the car back to Kansas City after its appearance in Fountain Hills. As those who saw the show in Fountain Hills know, the car is “iconic.”
The chief operations officer of A to Z Theatrical Supply and Service, in Kansas City told The Kansas City Star that the car is priceless to the business. He said it is unique and cannot be easily replicated.
It took hundreds of hours by highly skilled artisans to build the car. While surveillance video shows thieves driving out of the parking lot towing a trailer containing the car, no solid leads have been reported since the theft.
