A caregiver (even a non-relative) may qualify for getting paid for their caregiving services. Call ALTECS at 602-417-6600 to apply. A caseworker will come out to assess the person being cared for to see if they are eligible for their program. If they are eligible, the case worker will complete the application for services for the individual.

A medical assessor will then come out to determine the extent of care the individual needs. The number of hours the person may need for assistance can vary from one to 30 hours (example).

The person who is the caregiver then must be certified by any one of a number of home health care agencies. Once certified, the person can then be paid according to the number of hours approved for the individual.

The home health care agency submits the hours to ALTCS and ALTCS pays the home health agency which then pays the caregiver. Don’t know the amount the caregiver will be paid. Ask at the time of application. The process can take a minimum of 45 days.
