Carolyn LaForest

Our beloved Carolyn lost her battle with cancer on Oct. 9, 2018 surrounded by her family in Michigan. Carolyn was born on Aug. 25, 1939, in Detroit, Mich.

Carolyn is preceded in death by a daughter, Cheri Michelle; brother, Larry Eugene Van Wagner; and parents, Clifford and Edith Van Wagner of Michigan. Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Susan Williams and husband, Jeff of New Mexico; son, Michael LaForest and wife, Brenna of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and sister, Donna Flanery of Montague, Mich. Carolyn had three grandchildren, Braden LaForest and Kayla and Nathan Hendren and two step children, Evelyn and Henry Williams.

Carolyn also enjoyed the company of several nieces and nephews in Michigan, where she visited every summer with her sister for three or four months. Carolyn and her sister, Donna, loved to go camping in Donna’s 26’ trailer. Carolyn grew up in Bay City, Mich., where she continued to visit with her close classmates, and attend class reunions of Bay City Central High School where they all graduated.

Carolyn was a member of the Fountain Hills Woman’s club where she enjoyed doing the newsletter and membership duties. She also held the position of president in 2015.

Memorial services were held on Oct. 13, 2018 at Montague United Methodist Church, 8555 Cook Street, Montague, MI 49437.

Carolyn was laid to rest in her home state of Michigan on Oct. 13, 2018. Any donations can be made in her name to Hospice of the Valley.
