Cathie L. McShane

Cathie L. McShane, 52, of Fountain Hills passed away on Sept. 5, 2017. Cathie was born in Framingham, Mass. and has been a resident of Arizona since the age of five.

She was a compassionate teacher, animal rescuer, beloved friend and family member, author and editor. She is survived by her father, Sydney McShane from Sun Lakes, AZ; step-father Les McKinney of Parkersburg, Ill.; and three sisters, Caroline Randolph of Vernon Hills, Ill., Michelle McKinney of Calhoun, Ill. and Cheryl Greene of Maricopa, Ariz.

She had three nieces, Haley Pawlow, Elizabeth Greene, and Rebecca Greene as well as one nephew, Tyler McKinney.

Cathie was engaged to be married to Reitman Rhyasen of Fountain Hills.

Cathie was preceded in heaven by her mother, Phyllis McKinney.

Cathie graduated Shadow Mountain High School, University of Arizona, and then earned her Master’s Degree at Arizona State University. She was a Spanish and ESL teacher for nearly 30 years for the Mesa School District at Stapley and Carson Jr. High schools as well as Mountain View and Westwood High schools.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, Sept. 10, at 2 p.m. at Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary, 12065 N. Saguaro Blvd.
