A laser light display choreographed to music will be the latest entertaining offering at the two-day Oktoberfest Friday and Saturday, Sept. 28 and 29, in Fountain Park.
Organizer Christine Colley said Beamin’ Lasers of Phoenix will present the show around 9 p.m., both evenings, over Fountain Lake.
“Watch for images in the Fountain spray,” said Colley. The show will last as long as the musical score accompanying the display.

“The laser show will bring an added entertainment element to the event and that will hopefully make it a preferred Oktoberfest destination for guests throughout the Valley,” said Colley of Fountain Events, Inc., a not-for-profit organization.
Oktoberfests have sprouted up in other Valley communities. The Fountain Hills version, she said, adheres to tradition with a band, Die Echten Waldbuam, flown in from Germany, authentic German cuisine, such as brats, schnitzel, potato pancakes, homemade sauerkraut, potato salad and apple strudel.
Just as is done in Bavaria, the mayor will kick off Oktoberfest on Friday, Sept. 28, with the official keg tapping ceremony at 6:45 p.m. Mayor Linda Kavanagh will do the honors,
Attendees can compete for fun and prizes in the not-to-miss famous bier stein holding competition, best dressed Oktoberfest competition and the Alphorn blowing contest.
Oktoberfest will be open from 5 to 10 p.m. both days. Entrance fee is $5, kids under 12 are free. If you wear a dirndl or lederhosen, the entrance fee is waived.
Food and drink tickets are $1 each.
Proceeds from the event benefit service groups and local charities that include the food bank as well as high school and veteran projects.
