Put on your red, white and blue and join friends and neighbors at Fountain Park for the Fourth at the Fountain event to celebrate Independence Day.
The fun begins at 6 p.m. with music, kids bounce houses and a rock-climbing wall. Plus, what July 4th event would be complete without the pyrotechnics? The program will conclude with the fireworks display over Fountain Lake at 9 p.m.
The Fourth of July celebration is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs, blankets and picnic baskets to relax and enjoy an evening full of fun throughout the park.
Guests are welcome to bring Frisbees, balls and other games, but are asked to observe the following restrictions:
No glass
No alcohol
No personal fireworks, sparklers or other open flame.
Due to the fireworks it is suggested that pets be kept at home for their safety.
Public parking will be available throughout the downtown, but please note temporary road closures will be in effect at the end of the program to help visitors exit the park safely.
The closures are as follows:
Saguaro Boulevard from Paul Nordin Parkway to Parkview Ave. from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Panorama from Vista Del Lago to Diamante Drive from 12 noon to 10 p.m.
The Avenue of the Fountain eastbound U-Turn will also be closed.
Due to the high volume of event traffic it is recommended that patrons of the event exit Via Palisades Boulevard heading west to Shea Boulevard and Saguaro Boulevard south of El Lago Boulevard and continue south to Shea.
At the Fort
Fort McDowell Casino will be hosting its Independence Day celebration on Sunday, July 2. The 74th Street Band will be playing in the Lucky & Saloon at 4 p.m. Stay around for the band's outdoor concert at 8 p.m.
The evening wraps up with a fireworks display at 9 p.m.
On Tuesday, July 4, members of the casino's Players Club can get a free Fourth of July T-shirt between 8 a.m. and 11:59 p.m., or while supplies last.
