When the Town of Fountain Hills began demolition related to the Centennial Pavilion capital improvement project a few weeks ago, it raised concerns and questions from people who had donated benches as memorials that were placed in the area.
A speaker at the May 7 Town Council meeting was critical of the manner in which the project was initiated and personal memorials were removed.
Resident Ed Stizza said his family purchased a bench and plaque as a memorial for his late father. “There was total disrespect,” Stizza said. “My family was not notified, and no one else that I have talked to was either.”
