Chamber accepting nominations for business awards

The Fountain Hills Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for seven business awards, including Business Person of the Year.
The Mayor’s Award also will be awarded. Mayor Linda Kavanagh will select the recipient.
The awards will be presented at the Chamber gala on Friday, May 5, in the Community Center. Chamber President/CEO Scott Soldat-Valenzuela said the theme will be the 50s and 60s.
The deadline for nominees is March 24. Only Chamber members can be nominated for an award and only Chamber members may nominate, unless otherwise indicated.
Nominations will be reviewed by a nominations committee. The winner will be by a popular vote of Chamber members and nominations committee later in March.
Nomination forms explaining why the individual or organization should be considered for the award can be accessed on the Chamber’s website.
Business Person of the Year: In addition to owners of a business, nominations may include those who are in a managerial position. A nominee cannot have received the award within the last 10 years.
Entrepreneur of the Year: The individual must be the owner of a Fountain Hills business and exemplify the qualities of an entrepreneur which may include creative strategies, development of new products or services, innovative practices and is fully responsible for the business success or failure.
The nominee should not have exceeded five years in the specific business through which they are nominated.
Volunteer of the Year: The nominee must have served for at least one year and is not a contractor or paid service provider of the Chamber. Volunteers can be through the Ambassador committee, signature events or other Chamber functions, including the Visitor Center.
Non-Profit of the Year: The Chamber will recognize one 501c organization each year for service. This may include programs for children, health-related causes, veterans or any other non-profit under the IRS designation.
Customer Service Award: This person should exhibit problem-solving skills, listening skills and a keen awareness of ensuring that each customer feels important and is provided the service expected.
The nominee should also exceed expectations whenever possible for the benefit of the business and, most importantly, the delivery of extraordinary service. The award is designed for an individual employed by a Chamber business member.
Health Services Award: Eligible for this award will be a local medical practice or company that exemplifies quality, integrity and excellent customer service when working with clients.
The company does not have to be a Chamber member to be eligible but located in town.
The names of extraordinary staff, awards received and community involvement is recommended in the nomination.
Teacher of the Year: Nominees can teach in a private, public or charter school in Fountain Hills. Peer, school administration, or parents of students directly in the teacher’s area of instruction can submit nominations.
Individuals should exemplify using creative educational strategies, development of new educational techniques/research, innovative practices and have at least one year of full-time teaching experience.
