The real work began in the Avenue of the Fountains median on Tuesday morning with crews starting to take down trees, hammer out old water features and removing bricks that lined the walkway.

Three palm trees and oleanders at the far west end at La Montana Drive were the first of the vegetation to be taken out. While plans call for the removal of some 30 trees in the median, there will be 60 new ones planted with the renovation project.
