Charles “Patrick” Nichols M.D. died unexpectedly on June 15, 2016 in Fountain Hills. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and a terrific friend.
He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy (Lang) of 22 years; his children, Brian (Tammy), Patrick, Beth (John), Christopher (Traci), Gregory (Dori) and his grandchildren. He also leaves behind his mother-in-law, Audre Lange; brothers-in-law, John (Kathy) and Rick (Lynn), his sisters-in-law, Rita (Frank), Marie and Laura.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged with the rank of captain. Patrick graduated from Purdue University and Marquette Medical School. He spent the next several years at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., completing his residency and specialty training in Hematology.
He was employed as a Pathologist at St. Francis Hospital in Lacrosse, Wis. prior to moving to Scottsdale where he practiced at Mesa Lutheran Hospital (Banner Hospital) until his retirement in 2007.
He was a member of The College of American Pathologists, The American Society of Clinical Pathologists, American Medical Association, Arizona Board of Medical Examiner, Arizona Medical Board and an active member of the American Legion, Post 58.
Patrick loved to play golf, ride his Harley and watch his Packers play, travel, laugh and his dog Bruno.
He is predeceased by his parents; two brothers; a sister, and his beloved dogs, Nicki and Sage.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary, 12065 N. Saguaro Blvd., Fountain Hills, AZ. A reception will follow at The American Legion, 16837 E. Parkview Ave., Fountain Hills, AZ.
