Last Friday, we had a problem with our fire sprinkler system. We called a plumber who informed us they were not able to work on these. We, in turn, started calling every municipal person in the Fountain Hills phone book, attempting to find out who works on these things that we are required to have.
We called the Mayor’s office, City Manager, clerk; not one answered. We left messages at all offices. Finally, approximately five hours later, the Mayor’s assistant returned our call, but was no help at all.
For four days the overflow ran a heavy stream. We understand Arizona is conscious of water usage, but no one in the city seemed to care.

For four days the overflow ran a heavy stream. We understand Arizona is conscious of water usage, but no one in the city seemed to care.
Out of desperation we called the fire department. Our newly promoted fire chief, David Ott, answered and said “I will be there in 10 minutes.” He was the only town employee who offered help by informing us of three companies that work on fire sprinkler systems.
Thank you, Chief Ott, for all your help.
P.S. Chief Ott called this morning to make sure we are taken care of. Thanks again, Chief.
Editor’s note: Town offices are closed on Fridays, which may have been a factor in the initial lack of communication.
