Chili cook-off to fight malaria
Posted
The Fountains, a United Methodist Church, will hold its first ever Chili Cook Off with “Celebrity Chef” Phil Rodakis (of Phil’s Filling Station Grill) judging the chili.
The event starts at 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12.
So get out your old recipes, try something new, or just come to get your fill of some amazing chili. Prizes will be awarded.
For more information about how to enter your chili, contact Sharon Groves at 602-421-0650 or DeDe Rudolphy at 602-717-5357.
Tickets are just $10. Your ticket to the cook-off will directly benefit the effort to end Malaria in Africa with all proceeds going to the church’s “Imagine No Malaria” campaign.
Imagine No Malaria is a campaign and challenge to rid the world of killer disease – malaria.
Every 60 seconds, malaria claims a life in Africa, adding up to millions of lives needlessly lost each year.
Imagine No Malaria is an extraordinary effort of the people of The United Methodist Church, putting members’ faith into action to end preventable deaths by malaria in Africa, especially the death of a child or a mother.
Achieving this goal requires an integrated strategy against the disease. As a life-saving ministry, Imagine No Malaria aims to empower the people of Africa to overcome malaria’s burden.
The effort fights malaria with a comprehensive plan. The program continues to support Nothing But Nets and build partnerships, because bed nets are an effective tool against the disease.
The campaign is doing more as well – improving infrastructure, communications and education. Imagine No Malaria has partners to help make beating malaria a reality.
The church is located at 15300 N. Fountain Hills Blvd.
Following the cook-off, plan to stay and view the critically-acclaimed and moving malaria-themed movie “Mary and Martha.”
