Choosing leaders who reflect Fountain Hills’ values

OPINION — We owe it to ourselves and our neighbors to scrutinize the qualifications and motivations of each candidate. Are they genuinely committed to public service, are they seeking power for personal gain, or are they using us as steppingstones for something else? Their previous track record of integrity and leadership, both past and present, speaks volumes about their capacity to lead and make sound judgments on behalf of Fountain Hills.

Do their loyalties lie within our town or are their influences swaying their decisions? Are they beholden to followers or are they independent thinkers? Every voter should consider the candidate’s familiarity with the unique challenges and opportunities facing Fountain Hills. Is their passion for service propelled from a sincere connection to serve us?

Take the time to read their mailers, explore their platforms and ask the tough questions via email. These will help secure a dais filled with public servants. Smear campaigns already tell me who they really are. Focus on the facts, not the smear.
