Mr. Felten, Methodist Church leader, is once again pushing his “Progressive Christianity.”
In doing so he attacks fundamentals of the Christian faith. On his own authority, he arbitrarily rejects portions of the Bible which he deems to no longer be valid.
His “progressive” agenda isn’t Christianity at all. Most know that you can’t just change the Gospel of Jesus, no matter what you want to call it. This is not progressive, in fact, it’s not even new.

The Apostle Paul dealt with this issue about 2,000 years ago. He wrote, “I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel — which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned!” Galatians 1:6-9.
Christians need to be wary of those who want to rewrite scripture to justify a social or political agenda. They do not have the authority to do this. This is made clear by the writings of the Apostle John who gives a warning similar to Paul’s in the Book of Revelation, Chapter 22, verse 19. John says, “If anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city.”
If I have to choose between Biblical Christianity and “Progressive Christianity,” I choose the Bible every time.
