Some folks have difficulty making worship service on Sundays – schedules, illness, weekend trips, etc.

Christ’s Church of Fountain Hills later this month will start offering a traditional worship service on Tuesday afternoons, an attempt to give residents an opportunity to praise the Lord mid-week.

Associate Pastor Gary Emmons is organizing the weekly services, which will feature prayer, a short Bible message, the Lord’s Supper, piano music, hymns and a chance for people of all ages to connect with one another.

“Not everyone can make worship on Sunday morning, and we are calling this our more traditional service,” Emmons said.

“Stay-at-home mothers and fathers, retired folks, those who just need to re-energize during the week are invited to attend this service.”

The weekly services start Tuesday, April 19, and will be held from 1 to 2 p.m.

“Another issue is that some people don’t necessarily like modern praise music and thus stay away from worship services on Sunday mornings,” Emmons said.

“That’s another reason we thought we would institute this traditional mid-week worship service.

“People who enjoy piano and the classic hymns will appreciate this type of service.”

Emmons said several volunteers from the church have stepped up to help lead the music and singing, freeing him up to concentrate on a condensed Bible message.

“We are a non-denominational Christian church, so everyone is invited to stop by and participate in this service,” the long-time pastor said.

“And those who have not connected with a church for a while are definitely invited to stop by.”

Emmons also is attempting to organize rides for those who have difficulty leaving their homes or arranging transportation.

The church is located at 15555 E. Bainbridge Avenue (at Glenbrook Blvd.).
