Events held throughout December

The Church of the Ascension is celebrating its 50th Jubilee this December with a full month of community events, charitable drives and longstanding parish traditions.

In honor of the milestone, the church is inviting residents of all ages to take part in activities that highlight service, fellowship and the rich history of the parish. From donation drives supporting local nonprofits to special liturgical celebrations, the Jubilee offers multiple opportunities for the community to gather and give back.

The Church of the Ascension is celebrating its 50th Jubilee this December with a full month of community events, charitable drives and longstanding parish traditions.

In honor of the milestone, the church is inviting residents of all ages to take part in activities that highlight service, fellowship and the rich history of the parish. From donation drives supporting local nonprofits to special liturgical celebrations, the Jubilee offers multiple opportunities for the community to gather and give back.

Nov. 29–30: Andre House collection drive

The church will collect clothing, toiletries and basic necessities to support Andre House, which provides meals and essential services to individuals experiencing homelessness.

Dec. 6–7: Pajama collection for Maggie’s Place

New pajamas will be collected for Maggie’s Place, a nonprofit that offers housing and support for pregnant and parenting women and their babies. Donations will help provide warm, comfortable sleepwear during the winter season.

Dec. 13–14: Baby Bottle Donation Drive for the Aid to Women Center

Participants may pick up a baby bottle, fill it with a monetary donation and return it to support the Aid to Women Center’s medical care, resources and counseling services for women facing unplanned pregnancies.

5 p.m., Friday, Dec. 12: Feast of Guadalupe Celebration

The annual event honoring Our Lady of Guadalupe will include prayer, music and cultural traditions that hold special significance for many parishioners and visitors.

2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 21: Lessons & Carols service

This seasonal service features Scripture readings paired with traditional Christmas carols presented by the congregation and choir. The event is open to the public and offers an afternoon of holiday reflection and music.

“Our Jubilee is a moment to rejoice in our past and look toward our future,” said Father Jilson Panakkal, pastor of Church of the Ascension. “We welcome everyone to join us at these events and to support the community outreach efforts taking place throughout the month.”
