If we were taking a poll, as suggested by a reader regarding the Fountain Park lagoon, include me as totally against it.
All of the reasons seem obvious to me, but not to the Town Council. Why do we need a theme or amusement park in our community? Why do we have to spend taxpayer/resident dollars for a study of every silly whim that comes up with the Town Council? Why do we not repair our streets as needed instead of spending dollars on amusement for anyone who wants to get wet – Fountain Hills resident or not?
I am amazed that the present board caters to tourists, amusement and snowbirds. And this seems to be the way it is going for years. Does it not occur to these people that the people who vote for you are full-time residents and have moved here to obtain a quiet environment?

This is no longer the bedroom community I moved to from Scottsdale. We have awards for tourism, being playful and amusing. Do the full-time residents want this? Take a vote. Take a poll.
We put up with the closed streets for runs, fairs, events, etc.; all geared to bring in people. I recognize this is geared to obtain sales, but do not full-time residents also shop and support our town?
We now have a Town Hall that is half (if not more) empty, a sheriff’s office that is now half empty and a council that wants only to please outsiders and forget the people who support and live in the town.
I have voted for Mayor Kavanagh repeatedly, but hope that she is opposed the next election.
I miss our beautiful town, which is turning into a circus town. Or is the word “playful?”
